	EVENT / SPORTS – LES MENUIRES The French mountain bike Championships (off-road, downhill and XCE biking) – July 17th – 20th 2014 Les Menuires, the well-known Savoyard resort, is especially renowned for its exceptional natural environment, its mountain-biking instalments and its trails which make it the perfect place for The French mountain bike Championships. 1500 bikers will compete during 4 days in 4 different races: off-road biking, downhill biking, cross-country biking and cross-country eliminator. All the French mountain bike athletes will be there as well as the younger, up and coming athletes that will try to push the established hierarchy around. The downhill run has been redesigned with new jumps and an ultra-fast sprint to the finish line which are both sure to make for a great show! 	TOURISM / SPORTS / LEISURE – LES SAISIES NEW – Fly over the Beaufortain in an ultra-light helicopter This ultra-light, two-seater helicopter (280kg when empty) is a real class 6 technological gem and it now takes off from Les Saisies. Once comfortably seated behind the pilot all you have to do is sit back and take advantage of the 180° panoramic view. It’s an exciting and new way to see the Mont-Blanc, the Aravis and even sometimes the Chartreuse (if the weather allows for it) from another angle. Maximum weight per passenger: 85kg. Available in Les Contamines and Les Saisies New activity trends mean new equipment and new ways of doing them. Electrical mountain bikes are the new way for those who may not be in Olympic shape to discover the mountains. These electrical mountain bikes are just like any ordinary mountain bike just with an added battery. As soon as one starts to pedal, the bike starts working too making any cross-country or up-hill biking just that much easier. It’s the perfect bike for anyone, from the sportiest of us to the family with kids. The only challenge is optimizing the battery’s lifespan by only using it when necessary. 	TRENDY – MASSIF DE L’ARVAN-VILLARDS NEW – Mule assisted hikes and a night in a yurt First thing in the morning, meet up with Delphine at the farm in Saint Jean d’Arves. The first step is choosing your hiking companion, the mule that will hike alongside you. Once the mule has been set up to carry all your gear (food for the 2 days…), you set off for the Prés-Plans Valley, between Saint Sorlin d’Arves and the Col d’Ornon. The hike leads, through green pastures, up to your camp for the night: a traditional yurt nestled up at 1600m altitude. Kids will be happy to play around in the neighboring stream and parents will enjoy the comfort of their “home away from home”. The next day, the hike takes you up to the Col d’Ornon and then back down to Saint Jean d’Arves. For the kids who may be tired of hiking, they can just hop on to the back of the mule and enjoy. 2 day / 1 night hike from June to September. 2 yurts available. 	SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN SAINT-GERVAIS The new mountain refuge “du Goûter” will be opening in August The building of this refuge started in 2010, and this exceptional construction site is just now coming to an end. By the end of the summer, the new « Goûter » refuge will have welcomed its first mountain climbers. After 2 summers of construction, this 3835m. high refuge, on the route up to the Mont Blanc , will be able to accommodate 120 people at a time. This new refuge has been built on Saint Gervais’s territory, only about 200m. away from the current refuge. This new refuge is specially designed to better adapt, whether architecturally, technically or environmentally, to the unique, high mountain environment.
